How verification works
Every tick says how it was earned.
“Verified” always comes with a reason you can read. Anything we didn’t check is labelled, in plain words.
Verify your first role
Check a Rebase ID

Five ways to verify
What we check, and what each check proves.
01
Work email
A six-digit code goes to your address at the company, and you enter it. The address never shows on your profile.
WHAT IT PROVES
That you have an email account at that company. Gmail, Outlook and the like never count.
02
Colleagues who were there
For a role you’ve left, two people verified at that company in the same years confirm it.
WHAT IT PROVES
That two people who verifiably worked there say you did too, and how each knew you.
03
Clients and partners
For freelancers: two people with verified work at other companies confirm they worked with you.
WHAT IT PROVES
That they worked with you. Your profile says “Corroborated by clients”, with their names.
04
University email
The same code, sent to your address at the university.
WHAT IT PROVES
That you have, or had, an account there.
05
Our team, when nothing else fits
If the address doesn’t match the company, a person at Rebase checks it, within 30 business days.
WHAT IT PROVES
That a person at Rebase looked and was satisfied. Your profile says so.
Verified, or corroborated
Two different things, and Rebase always says which.
Confirmed by the employer’s own email: verified. Confirmed by people who worked there with you: corroborated. Both are real checks, so each gets its own tick.
Verified
By the employer or school itself
A code to an email address there, or a check by our team. The solid tick.
Corroborated
By the people who were there
Colleagues, managers or clients whose own roles there are verified say you worked with them. The outlined tick.
Vouched
By people who saw the work
Nobody has confirmed the role yet, but verified people there vouched for what you did.
Not checked
By nobody yet
Added by the person. Shown as it is, and never with a tick.
On every profile
Read exactly how each role was checked.
Every role carries its own line. No single badge hides what wasn’t checked.

Honest about the limits
What verification doesn’t tell you.
A tick means the check happened. It isn’t a reference, and it doesn’t vouch for how good someone was at the job. That’s what vouches are for.
Identity documents
We don’t check passports or government ID.
Job titles and seniority
A work email proves you worked there, not your exact title. Colleagues confirming a role see the title you gave.
Pay history
We never ask for it and never show it.

laura@northwindlabs.com matches the company’s domain
The first person from a company with a matching address manages the page straight away. Everyone after them is approved by an admin.
Companies
Company pages are run by people who work there.
Managing a page takes a code to an address at the company’s domain. The gold seal is a separate step: a registration that matches an official register, and proof the company controls its domain.
Keeping Rebase real
Real people, and nobody selling at you.
New accounts can’t message strangers, throwaway inboxes can’t join, and “I didn’t ask for this” closes an unwanted pitch in one tap. Nobody is banned on reports: an account reported by several people becomes read-only for a while, and a person decides the rest.
If you lose access
You always have a way back in.
Any email you’ve verified signs you in. If all are gone, your recovery contacts confirm it’s you, or a person at Rebase decides within 2 business days, with one case you can follow.
